About me
Back in September '24 I was feeling anxious, stuck and lost in life. I was making pizza's for a living and I had no more money in my bankaccount. I needed a change, packed my bags and moved with no plan to Tamraght, Morocco. Took a few surf lessons and saw all the surfers struggling with sunburn, zinc and uncomfortable hats in the water.
3 week after I left the Netherlands with my one way ticket AUKAI was born.
Our life can change in a matter of weeks. Trust yourself, have FUN and go for it.
Our why
AUKAI was born from my love for the ocean and the surf lifestyle, a need for protection, comfort and effortless style in the water. When I landed in Tamraght, Morocco, I was instantly drawn in the waves, the surf community and the freedom of living by the ocean. But after long sessions under the burning sun, we knew we needed a hat that could actually keep up.
Most surf hats were uncomfortable, or didn’t stay on in the waves. We wanted something different, something that felt good to wear, stayed put in the surf and looked effortless on land.
That’s why I created AUKAI: a surf hat made for surfers, by surfers.

Projects
We believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. Morocco has been an incredible home and inspiration for our journey, and we want to support the local communities that have welcomed us with open arms. That's why for every hat sold, we donate $1 to local projects in Morocco that focus on sustainable development, education, and environmental preservation. It's our way of ensuring that as we grow, we also help lift the places and people that have shaped AUKAI. Together, we can and we will make a positive change.
